Legal directories and marketing consultant.

My focus is helping law firms to raise their profile among the range of organizations that rank, analyze, measure and write about lawyers – directories, rankings, listings, surveys, and awards – and related media and communications.

I formed Pearson Communications in 2008, and am based in the UK, but almost all of my work is international, and I have advised and represented 200 law firms and 2,000 lawyers in 100 countries, covering almost every market and practice area.

Clients range from global firms, international firms, and full-service national practices to specialist boutiques, sole practitioners, and start-up firms.

Biography:

I am uniquely placed in the market: I was a senior editor at a leading legal directory and have managed the directories in-house for top law firms in the U.S and U.K.

That experience has given me a a full-circle perspective and insight into the world of legal directories – vital in order to offer clients an effective consultancy service.

In the late 1990s I was part of the team that worked on the launch and development of Chambers Global, one of the leading international guidebooks.

Later I became editor of Chambers Global, worked extensively on the early editions of Chambers USA, and contributed to Chambers UK.

After leaving Chambers, I joined the leading international firm, Herbert Smith, in 2004. Based in London, I ran the press office, and worked on legal directories, communications, and media relations initiatives.

In 2006 I moved to White & Case in New York to manage the firm’s global directories program. Notably, I was the market’s first dedicated law firm directories manager. I wrote and managed hundreds of submissions covering the full range of legal directories, publications and surveys across the world.

After leaving White & Case, I spent six months working for Best Lawyers. I helped develop the Best Lawyers-US News Best Law Firms survey, and enhanced Best Lawyers’ relationships with law firms and the media in Europe following the company’s international expansion.

In 2008 I set up my consultancy to make the directories process smoother for law firms, and to help lawyers promote themselves to the growing number of legal rankings, listings, surveys and awards.
